On December 27, 2022, the Bar Council of Ukraine adopted decision No. 185 "Regarding some issues of fulfillment by lawyers of the requirements of the Procedure for the Advancement of Qualifications of Lawyers of Ukraine".
The Decision notes the introduction of changes to the decision of the Council of Bars of Ukraine dated March 16, 2022 No. 30 in connection with the consideration and discussion of the appeal of the director of the Higher School of Advocacy of NAAU Kuzmenko S.E. regarding the state of fulfillment by lawyers of the requirements of the Procedure for improving the qualifications of lawyers of Ukraine and other related issues, having heard on this issue the Deputy Chairman of the Bar Council of Ukraine Gvozdiya V.A.
As a result of the changes made, the effect of clauses 19, 20 of the Procedure for improving the qualifications of lawyers of Ukraine, approved by the decision of the Bar Council of Ukraine No. 63 of July 3, 2021 with changes, was suspended only until December 31, 2022.
Thus, lawyers who have acquired the status of a lawyer, based on the results of 2022, are not obliged to increase their professional level to the level of 48 hours, of which at least 16 hours – every year.
All lawyers are not obliged to improve the qualification of a lawyer at the level of 10 hours per year (10 credit points) also only within the framework of 2022.
With regard to 2023, the effect of items 19 and 20 of the Procedure has been restored
