It’s been just over a month since we lost Yaroslav Lavruk — a lawyer, arbitration manager, justice captain, graduate of the Yaroslav the Wise National Law University. A warrior. A man of honor.
On March 13, 2025, while carrying out a combat mission as part of the 5th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade in the area of Pokrovsk, Yaroslav perished defending Ukraine. At 38, he left behind not only a brilliant professional reputation, not just combat awards and the respect of his comrades — but also a daughter whom he loved immensely. And a memory. Strong, poignant, real.
His path is an example for all of us. From an investigator in his native Kolomyia — to an officer on the front lines. From a lawyer — to a defender of the country. From a bankruptcy specialist — to a Hero.
His passing was mourned by the Kyiv Oblast Bar Association, the National Association of Arbitration Managers of Ukraine, the Yaroslav the Wise National Law University, the professional community, friends, comrades, and acquaintances who knew: he was a person who lived not for himself, but for Ukraine.
But now we have a chance to do something important — to immortalize the Hero’s name not only in our hearts, but also at the state level. His comrades and colleagues have initiated a petition to award Yaroslav Lavruk the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III Class (posthumously).
