In order to provide support and training to lawyers who seek to participate in lobbying and advocacy, a permanent collegial advisory body, the Lobbying Committee, has been established at the National Bar Association of Ukraine.
The corresponding order dated 09.09.2025 No. 173 was signed by the head of the UNBA, RAU Lydia Izovitova.
Attorney Oleksiy Shevchuk (pictured) , who previously headed the UNBA Committee on Information Policy and Interaction with the Media, was appointed as the chairman of the newly formed committee.
The Committee, in particular, will organize trainings and seminars involving national and international experts, and other events to promote lobbying as one of the legitimate and effective tools for influencing the decision-making process in public policy.
“Business groups already have a significant influence on the legislative process. And the Law “On Lobbying” that came into effect on September 1 legalized these relations,” noted O. Shevchuk, who initiated the creation of a specialized committee. “Therefore, it is important for lawyers, who are also involved in supporting the commercial activities of enterprises, to understand and apply the new legislation to the benefit of their clients.”
Recall that according to the Law, lobbying is an activity carried out with the aim of influencing (attempting to influence) the object of lobbying in the commercial interests of the beneficiary (for remuneration received directly or indirectly and/or with payment of actual expenses necessary for its implementation) or in the person’s own commercial interests and related to the subject of lobbying.
By another order, Yuriy Radzievsky was appointed head of the UNBA Committee on Information Policy and Interaction with the Media. Prior to that, he held the position of deputy head.
